BLOMSTEIN Wins Leading Public Procurement Team

Katharina Weiner and Stefanie Zenzen Join BLOMSTEIN

We are happy that the experienced team of Katharina Weiner (partner) and Stefanie Zenzen (associate) will join our Düsseldorf office in the third quarter of 2026 from an international law firm. They both bring extensive experience advising leading national and international companies as well as public sector clients on complex procurement, regulatory, and strategic infrastructure matters.

Their arrival further strengthens BLOMSTEIN’s market-leading capabilities in the healthcare and defence sectors, while also enhancing our expertise in highly regulated industries.

Katharina Weiner is widely recognized as one of Germany’s leading public procurement specialists. Over the course of her career, she has built a distinguished reputation at the intersection of regulatory law and strategic industrial projects. She is particularly well known for her work in the healthcare sector and has more recently established herself as a trusted advisor on defence-related matters.

Her practice focuses on complex procurement, regulatory, and state aid issues, as well as large-scale investment and transformation projects, including in the semiconductor and critical infrastructure sectors.

Winning Katharina Weiner and Stefanie Zenzen for our team reflects our continued investment in the two strategically important areas defence and healthcare. Both sectors are undergoing significant geopolitical, regulatory, and economic change, creating growing demand for sophisticated legal advice. Katharina Weiner’s deep industry knowledge, international perspective, and regulatory expertise make her a natural fit for BLOMSTEIN’s platform and reinforce the firm’s commitment to advising clients on their most complex and business-critical challenges.

The move also marks another milestone in the growth of our Düsseldorf office, which Christopher Wolters opened in April 2026, and its development into our second major hub in Germany.

“Katharina is an outstanding lawyer with a truly international mindset and exceptional regulatory expertise,” says Pascal Friton. “Her experience perfectly complements our existing practice, particularly in healthcare, while significantly expanding our capabilities in the defence sector. We are especially delighted that she is joining together with Stefanie. Bringing in a well-rehearsed team creates immediate value for our clients and our firm.”

Katharina Weiner adds: “BLOMSTEIN has built an outstanding reputation for high-end regulatory advice, entrepreneurial thinking, and seamless collaboration across practices and offices. I am excited to join the team and look forward to helping further expand both the Düsseldorf office and our advisory platform.”
