The German business journal WirtschaftsWoche (WiWo) has ranked BLOMSTEIN among the leading law firms for public procurement law in Germany.

A consortium consisting of Kapsch TrafficCom AG and CTS EVENTIM AG & Co. KGaA is to be commissioned to collect the German car toll. A team of BLOMSTEIN lawyers has advised the consortium on all aspects of public procurement law.

BLOMSTEIN recently advised PIA Performance Interactive Alliance für digitales Marketing GmbH („PIA“) on antitrust aspects in connection with the acquisition of tab GmbH („TAB“). Corporate advice, including the structuring of the transaction and the overall coordination of the project was handled by lead advisors LAWENTUS.

Despite protest and all efforts to find a diplomatic solution, the US government has introduced punitive duties on steel (25%) and aluminium (10%) imported by European, Canadian and Mexican companies on Friday, 1 June 2018. The same day, the EU responded promptly and submitted a request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) for consultations under a dispute settlement procedure. Canada, the largest steel supplier to the US, has also initiated proceedings at the WTO. The Canadian Foreign Minister has announced to closely cooperate with the EU. Mexico has also expressed its intention to take action against the US.

On 14/15 July 2018, BLOMSTEIN hosted the debating tournament BLOMSTEIN Cup in cooperation with the Berlin Debating Union e.V. 50 participants from all over Germany debated in 5 preliminary rounds and one final on various current socio-political issues.
